One of my favorite prayers. The first time I read it, it really hit home. I mean, to see everything my heart wanted to say condensed into two verses? Magical.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.

Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus || Spoken Word

[Mar.11]

It’s so easy to point fingers at someone else and say “Hey you’re wrong.” “Hey you’re evil!” But it’s so hard to look at all of the “wrong” and “evil” within ourselves.

In the Bible Jesus says, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Luke 6:41-42 NIV)

We all think, “Well, how can you say I’m just like the people out there who are killing millions of people, or causing genocides, or stealing billions of dollars, etc.?”

The Bible also tells us, “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgement.’ But I [Jesus] tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgement. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister ‘Raca’ [an Aramaic term of contempt] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.” (Matthew 5:21-22 NIV [with footnotes])

I deserve judgement and the fires of hell, over and over again. BUT, thank God for Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

[Mar.11]

Actually, we all deserve to die. No one deserves anything, because of our sins, whether it be mass murder and abduction, or just hatin’ on your neighbors.

It’s all the same.

BUT, thank God for the grace (gift) of Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!
